Message of Mrs. Mariam Sankara to the GRILA

Dear comrades and friends,

The trial concerning the assassination of President Thomas Sankara opened on October 11, 2021 in Ouagadougou. This is an important step in the fight we have been waging for 24 years after I filed my complaint against X with the courts of Burkina Faso.

I would like to thank GRILA and Mr. AZIZ Fall for having contributed to the coordination of the actions of the Sankara Family Lawyers’ Collective as well as to the animation of the
international campaign Justice for Thomas Sankara.

Despite the expression of our initial satisfaction, we must not lose sight of the fact that the fight is not over. That is why I call once again for the mobilization and vigilance of all of us. of all of us.

It is time that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes tell the truth and that we know who did what.

This trial, so long awaited by the families of the victims, by the people of Burkina Faso, by Africa in general and by international public opinion should serve as an example to those who have no respect for human life human life, to those who haggle and upset the destiny of our peoples in the name of their
selfish interests.

Finally, I wish you a good commemoration of the day of October 15, 2021.
